The site is built from the ground up with custom functionality. Code snippets are efficiently managed using WPCodeBox, including a bespoke search form and pagination system added via shortcodes. Additional features – such as post duplication and displaying featured images in the admin view – significantly speed up recipe management and content creation.
Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) powers the dynamic structure of the site, linking a Recipes custom post type (CPT) to an Ingredients CPT using an ACF post object field. ACF Extended allows ingredients to be created directly from within the recipe editor, streamlining the workflow for content creators.
Behind the scenes, the site runs on a structured ingredients database, where each ingredient includes nutritional values stored in ACF fields. This data is periodically updated via WP All Import, ensuring accuracy and consistency as the database evolves. Thanks to this setup, the site can automatically calculate nutritional values for each recipe based on ingredient weights – outputting both per-serving and per-100g data.
